2021 CIO National Virtual Panel – Snow Software December 15

Empowering growth and innovation in a hybrid world

As the world cautiously reopens and IT leaders strive to build a seamless transition into hybrid working, the focus should be firmly on building a platform for future growth and innovation. In this new world, we all learnt quickly that disruption is a constant, and IT leaders must find effective and sustainable ways to lead through uncertainty. Despite the challenges in balancing IT agility with continued governance, and creating efficient automation against a backdrop of increasingly decentralized IT spend, the opportunities for innovation and growth remain significant.

Bridging the visibility gap is a critical step in empowering your teams for a hybrid world. According to Gartner, IT teams have around 80 percent of their budget tied up in the “run” side of their business, and empowering them to have visibility of how they can effectively optimize costs allows leaders to operate strategically and repurpose budget for mission critical digital transformation projects -essential in a hybrid work place. Equally there’s the matter of managing a hybrid IT environment, which in this next phase, is expected to move beyond cost optimization to optimizing resource via automated provisioning, governance and performance observability across distributed locations.

Join Snow Software and a select group of industry peers to discuss what’s next for IT in a hybrid world and how to fund growth to drive further transformation across your organization.

Snow Software is the global leader in technology intelligence solutions, ensuring the trillions spent on all forms of technology is optimized to drive maximum value. More than 4,000 organizations around the world rely on Snow’s platform to provide complete visibility, optimize usage and spend, and minimize regulatory risk. Headquartered in Stockholm, Snow has more local offices and regional support centers than any other software asset and cloud management provider, delivering unparalleled results to our customers and partners. Some call it Software Asset Management, Cloud Spend Management, Enterprise Mobility Management, Unified Device Management or even just license compliance.

The Rise of Machine identities in cloud and cloud native environments

Historically SSL certificates were used with web servers, application servers and load balancers. Certificate lifecycle management was satisfactory with this environment. The world has changed. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, Azure, GCP, AWS, DevOps, Cloud Native, service mesh, mTLS, the list seems endless. All these entities consume TLS certificates. Just as password management evolved into IAM, certificate lifecycle management has evolved into Machine Identity Management. How can we enable our developers to go fast yet still stay secure?

Ransomware: How to Reduce Your Likelihood of Being a Victim

Colonial Pipeline. JBS meat processor. Scripps Health. The list of recent high-profile ransomware victims is long and growing. So are the costs to recover from these crimes.

But what if you could take preventive steps to reduce your likelihood of becoming a ransomware victim? BitSight recently analyzed hundreds of ransomware incidents to identify common security performance gaps and challenges that lead to successful ransomware incidents. Going Fast and Staying Secure During the Machine Identity Explosion

Historically SSL certificates were used with web servers, application servers and load balancers. Certificate lifecycle management was satisfactory within this environment. But the world has changed. The migration from bare metal servers to hypervisors and VMs, and subsequently containers and microservices has increased the number of machine identities and decreased the lifetime of these systems that require them. Guess what? All these entities consume TLS certificates. These systems require automation for fast deployment but they must also remain secure. Just as password management evolved into IAM, certificate lifecycle management has evolved into Machine Identity Management. The need to enable our developers to go fast yet still stay secure has never been greater.
